Country music takes its roots back to the southern U.S. in the 1920s and really gained popularity in the 1940s. Vernon Dalhart was the first country singer to have a nationwide hit in May 1924. During the 1930s and 1940s, cowboy songs were popularized by films made in Hollywood. Some of the popular singing cowboys were Gene Autry and Roy Rogers. In 1956, the number two, three and four songs on the Billboard charts were all country songs by Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins.
Country music today has really gone main stream. Many rock and pop stars have come over to record some country songs. Carrie Underwood became the only country artist to have a #1 Hit on Billboard Hot 100 Songs chart in the 2000-2009 decade. There have also been a large number of duos and vocal groups have begun to emerge on the charts in the 2010s. If you would like to see your favorite country star up close and personal, we have tickets to almost any concert on tour.
