Major League Soccer is a professional soccer league based in the U.S. It is composed of 19 teams in the U.S. and Canada. It was founded in 1993 and its first season took place in 1996 with 10 teams. Originally, it wasn't that popular. In 2002, the U.S. made it to the quarterfinals of the World Cup and there was resurgence in the MLS. It drew international attention in 2004 when D.C. United brought on 14-year-old Freddy Adu to play.
The MLS has taken steps in recent years to raise the level of play. In 2007, they made the Designated Player Rule, which helped bring international stars to the league. One of the most prominent stars that were brought in was David Beckham who signed to play with the Los Angeles Galaxy. That same year, every regular season match was telecast live. MLS is fun and exciting to watch, especially in person. Take your time to browse our MLS tickets and find the perfect match to attend.
