Bluegrass Concert Tickets
Bluegrass music is a sub-genre of country music. It was inspired by music from the Appalachia and influenced by the music of African-Americans. It is traditionally played on acoustic string instruments and has a vocal harmony featuring two, three, or four parts. The fiddle, five-string banjo, guitar, mandolin and upright bass are often joined by the resonator guitar and sometimes accompanied by the harmonica. Bill Monroe is considered the pioneer of bluegrass music.
The term bluegrass is thought to come from the 1950s and derived from the name of the Blue Grass Boys band led by Bill Monroe. Bluegrass has matured and broadened its fan base over the years. There have been major country singers like Dolly Parton that have released bluegrass albums. There are three sub-genres of bluegrass: traditional bluegrass, progressive bluegrass and Bluegrass gospel.
